What makes Mang Den

Campfires, pine forest and a sea of mist — simple things that stay with you.

Camp fire

Camp fire

The fire was lit just as dusk fell and burned until no one wanted to go back to their rooms. The firewood was stacked in a cone shape in the middle of a stone circle in the courtyard, the flames almost as high as a seated person. Around it were swings, log chairs, and stone tables—everywhere was warm enough. The temperature in Mang Den dropped below 10°C at night, so everyone naturally huddled together. Conversations usually began with the stranger sitting next to them. By the time the embers were only glowing red, rarely did anyone want to get up first.

BBQ Night

BBQ Night

When the weather in Mang Den turns cold, a bonfire is lit in the courtyard and dinner begins there. Firewood is arranged in a circle of stones in the middle of the courtyard, burning all evening. Beside it is a charcoal grill with skewers of beef, sausages, potatoes, bell peppers, and fresh vegetables you grill your own portion, at your own pace. Sticky rice wrapped in foil is placed on the charcoal, cooking slowly while everyone sits and chats. Wooden chairs and swings are placed around the fire, close enough to be warm, far enough to see the stars.

Flower Garden in Front of the Bungalow

Flower Garden in Front of the Bungalow

A row of red flowers runs along the pathway in front of the arched bungalows, reaching up to your arm's length. You don't have to go anywhere to admire them; just open your room door and you're in the middle of the garden. Behind is a pine forest, and above, a row of hanging spherical lights illuminates the path as dusk falls. Many guests come here intending to take a picture before going inside, but end up staying longer than that.
